In this 3-hour session taking place on Saturday, January 20th from 1-4pm, local artist Susan Bulman will introduce participants to the medium of watercolour. This is the first of two watercolour sessions Susan will be offering in January, which can be taken together or separately. The second session will take place on February 17th from 1-4pm.

Susan will discuss the materials used in watercolour, include different papers, paints, and types of brushes, and how they are used to create a variety of marks. Participants will spend a short time experimenting with colour and mark-making techniques, before learning about the basic techniques most often used in watercolour paintings to create different effects. Techniques covered will include: flat and graduated washes, dry-brush, wet on dry, wet in wet, glazing, and more!

After completing the exercises, participants will select their favourites to put together a chart or collage of the various techniques to take home as a reference.

No experience in drawing or watercolour is required. This program is suitable for teens (13+) and adults.
