Instructor: Susan Bulman
NOTE: Some understanding of composition and experience in drawing is encouraged for enrolling in this course.
This 8-week course will offer an extensive overview of the medium of watercolours including materials, techniques, tips, and solutions to some common issues. This class runs October 15 – December 3, 2022 at the Douglas Family Art Centre and is lead by artist, Susan Bulman.
Participants will try out different brushwork techniques, papers, and qualities of paint. The first few weeks will also include experimentations with watercolour using pencils, graphite, charcoal and ink — as well as numerous ways to add texture to your work. The use of resist methods, including making fluid, tape, and stencils will also be discussed. In later classes, these skills will be used to complete still-life, landscape, and subjects.
Even if you have used watercolours before, this class is a great refresher and a way to practise, practise, practise. After all that’s what art is all about!
