Performance and Q&A with Heather Shillinglaw

January 11, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Heather Shillinglaw retells her Metis family's oral history of the Carlton Trail through beadwork and textile installations.

Presenter: Heather Shillinglaw

Join Metis artist, Heather Shillinglaw, for a live performance followed by a question and answer period to compliment her exhibition Whiskey Scrip.

The performance features the artist speaking over an audio recording of layered violin paired with the sounds of rubbing of a whiskey barrel and sounds from the natural world.  The audio is meant to reflect the creaking, breaking, twisted, broken violent sound of 250 red river carts rolling across the prairie.  The artist describes the performance as “oral storytelling with a twist.”

Admission by donation.
