This is a reproduction of Walter J. Phillips master work Summer Idyll (1926). This piece is considered one of Phillips' and the nation' s greatest prints. This artwork is one of his largest, and his most technical wood block print, consisting of 11 carved blocks. Phillips printed the entire edition, 11 blocks used 100 times each. This technical marvel defines the standard of excellence in the Canadian colour woodblock medium and is one of the reasons that Phillips is considered the pioneer and master of the technique. Summer Idyll won a bronze meal at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1926.
