This is a reproduction of Walter J. Phillips woodblock print Norman Bay (Number 2) (1923) in the collection of the Douglas Family Art Centre.

Phillips stayed in Norman Bay during his first few years visiting Lake of the Woods. The geography of the area, with picturesque vies of Coney Island and Norman's long curving bay dotted with boathouses, made for satisfying compositions. The landscape would serve as inspiration for many of Phillips' paintings and subsequent colour. woodblock prints. Norman Bay's unmistakable shoreline reappears int his woodblock which Phillips received international recognition for in 1924, winning the Storrow Prize at the International Exhibition of Prints in Los Angeles.
