Perler beads, fuse beads, melty beads… Whatever you call them, we’re talking about the beads you melt together with an iron!

Inspired by the use of Perler beads in the exhibition Catherine Blackburn: New Age Warriors, we will be fashioning our own melted bead creations in this workshop for children ages 6-9! This program will begin with a tour of New Age Warriors, where we will get some inspiration. Children may choose from a variety of templates, or create their own designs! Participants will practice fine motor skills as they carefully place the beads onto the boards, either by hand or using plastic tweezers. Once they are finished laying out their beads, the instructor or an adult volunteer will take care of the ironing to connect their beads. Children will have the choice of turning their creations into magnets, pins, keychains, or even jewelry.

This class will take place on Tuesday, April 2 from 4:30-5:45pm. Registration and payment will be required to reserve your space in this class, and can be completed in-person or online. The cost is is $20 (no tax), or $18 (no tax) for MUSE members. Limited to 12 participants. All materials are supplied.
