Bring your family to the Douglas Family Art Centre on Saturday, October 21 from 3-4:30 pm to create an illuminated haunted house complete with a battery-powered tea light!

First, kids will draw on their house where they want the doors and windows to go, so that parents can cut them out with a utility knife. After the holes are cut, children can paint their house black or another spooky colour using acrylic paint. While the paint dries, participants will create spooky decorations for their house such as pumpkins, bats, cats, and tombstones on construction paper. Once the paint is dry, we’ll use a white oil pastel or white acrylic paint marker to add details to their house like spiderwebs, bricks, window shutters, and more. Complete you house by installing a toothpick fence and by gluing on your construction paper decorations.

This activity is appropriate for children (ages 5+), teens, and adults. It is recommended children under 12 and those requiring additional assistance be accompanied by an adult. Use of a utility knife and hot glue is needed to complete this project.

The cost is $15 per participating person (tax included) or $13.50 for MUSE members. All materials supplied. Non-participating parents and children are free.

Registration is required and you can register in person at the Douglas Family Art Centre or online by filling out this form. Payment will be required to complete your registration and reserve your space, and can be done in person online.
