Take an evening walk in Kenora’s silent city— the Lake of the Woods Cemetery. With over 14,000 burials it is the largest cemetery in northwestern Ontario. The tour looks at Kenora’s history through the famous, and infamous, stories of the people buried here. From true crime tales and murder mysteries, to the Ontario-Manitoba border war, sickness and disease in early Rat Portage, and one of the most famous (and grisliest!) bank robberies in Canadian history. These true stories of real people will give you a view of the history of Kenora like you’ve never heard before.

  • Tour begins at 7:30 PM
  • Meet at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery Garage (enter the main gate and go right at the fork, up the hill, to the northeast of the cemetery)
  • The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours and involves walking on paved paths and grass. Please notify us if you have any accessibility concerns or require accommodations.
