The Kenora Great War Project began in 2012 as a local heritage project to research and commemorate people from Kenora who were killed in the First World War. With the one hundredth anniversary of the Great War coming up the project very quickly was extended to include every person from Kenora who served in the war.  A massive research effort began— documents, photos, and letters were poured over.  Now entering its seventh year, the work on the Kenora Great War Project continues.  With a database of over 1500 local men and women who served, the project is an amazing work of local history that connects our local story into the story of Canada.
