Perfecting Portraiture with Laurie Dufresne (4 weeks)

This workshop is intended for those who struggle to develop or achieve a likeness of their subject or those who start out with the likeness and lose it along the way.
In this 4-week session, local artist Laurie Dufresne will teach you tips and tricks to create more accurate portraits. The class will take place at the Douglas Family Art Centre on Thursdays from 6-8:30pm on January 26 and February 1, 8, and 15.
In this session, participants will learn about:
- Understanding shape and form
- Basic foundations and layout for the human head
- Adapting the general form to accommodate personal characteristics
- Improving perception – what you see vs. preconceived notions
- Planning your portrait layout
- Tips and techniques
Registration is required and you can register by filling out our online registration form. Payment will be required to complete your registration.
The cost to register is $120 +HST for non-members or $108 +HST for MUSE members. Limited to 15 participants. All materials are supplied. Recommended for adults and teens aged 15+ with previous art experience.
