Karen Pheasant-Neganigane takes you on a journey through storytelling narratives. This presentation is a combination of history education that is kept from the school curriculum, that she shares in her award winning book – Powwow: Celebration through Song and Dance. Also, through use of humour and improv exploration, Karen will share how the arts, storytelling, genealogy stories are vital to the cultural revitalization that is happening. Threaded within the presentation will be how we bring the TRC’s Calls for Action into our everyday lives, both as Indigenous and Non-Indigenous society members. Join Karen as she shares ‘reflexive’ thought engagement.

Karen Pheasant-Neganigwane, MEd, PhD (c) is an Assistant Professor, Department of General Education Teaching and Learning & Department of Humanities, Faculty of Arts at Mount Royal University in Calgary.  She had been inducted into the Canadian Dance Hall of Fame. Her induction ceremony can be watched here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoamW5Dre34
