Enjoy FREE admission to The Muse on Saturday, March 2nd during Kenora’s Winter Weekend of Wonder thanks to Triple PLAY Kenora! Whether you have “never been” or “haven’t in a while,” this is the perfect time for a visit to The Muse. Here are the fantastic exhibition that you can check out, free of charge:
Strike a Pose: Portraits from the Collection is a selection of over 60 of the most compelling and striking portraits from our extensive photo collection. Spanning many different subject areas, and with some photos dating to the 1880s, this wide ranging portrait exhibit is sure to please the both the history lover and the photography aficionado. March 2 is the last day to see this exhibit before it closes, so don’t miss your last chance to check it out!
Kris Goold: On a Silver Platter features animal skulls that have been armoured and adorned by hand with mixed metals and glass, as a way to reflect the life and death of the animal. Their coming together in this exhibition is a not only a feast for the eyes but also a call to question whether we value the animal world and if we truly understand our places within it. On display until April 20.
Catherine Blackburn: New Age Warriors melds traditional form with contemporary design, using the framework of beading to explore cultural identity, memory, and history. As a jeweller and visual artist, Catherine has worked in painting, quilling, and beading to address Canada’s colonial past through her personal experiences. Catherine has fashioned warrior garments and language medallions from plastic Perler beads to show the connection between materiality and Indigenous women’s ability to adapt to their changing environments. On display until April 13.
