Thistle Rink Memories

Thistle Rink

Here’s a question for ya— why did everyone stand to watch hockey at the Thistle Rink? There is even people standing in the rafters!

Here’s another— do you ever remember sneaking in under the bleachers?

One last question— Do you know what’s going on in the photos with the people in costumes? It’s labelled, “Schmockey 1965” and that’s all we’ve got!

Did you know?

In 1870 the Wolseley Expedition went through this area on route to the Red River Valley. Major General Garnet Wolseley got impatient and set out to cross the lake in a storm.  He got lost on the Lake of the Woods for two whole days!
