September 7th is Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Day
by Braden Murray
Вітаю!
Today we are joining the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) to mark Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Day in Ontario. It is celebrated in Ontario on September 7th because the first official Ukrainian immigrants, Vasyl Eleniak and Ivan Pylpiw arrived in Canada 130 years ago today, on September 7th, 1891.
This year the Museum is creating a new exhibit on the history of Ukrainian Canadians in the Kenora area. The exhibit will take place during the summer of 2022.
We want this exhibit to be the best that it can be, so we need your help!
We are collecting stories, photos, artifacts, clothing, and other items that help tell the local history of Ukrainian Canadians in this area. If you have a story, photo, or artifact to share (or loan!) we would love to see it. We want to make sure we tell the whole and complete story, and we can only do that with your help! Дякую!
