Welcome to the Muse 2024 Summer Speaker Series taking place on Sunday afternoons at the Lake of the Woods Museum at 2:00 pm.
In this session Creating Safe Pathways through the Arts Steve Woolrich discusses the importance of people, place and creating connections to local artists and musicians. We have an opportunity to co-create safe and vibrant communities, tap into our creativity and transform our built environments.
Steve is a sought-after Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) expert and trainer, including Crime Free Multi-Housing. His approaches are based on best practices that support social connection and are people-centered, creative, and collaborative – utilizing placemaking, restorative practices, activating arts & culture to co- create compelling built environments.
Steve studied Justice Administration, majoring in Police Science at Mount Royal University. He completed additional studies at Kean College, New Jersey while working with the New York Police Department as part of his practicum during the summer of 1984. He continues to work across Canada and overseas and embraces a life-long approach to learning.
