The Muse is pleased to be partnering with the Metis Nation of Ontario’s Summer Youth Program to offer a free workshop which gives people of all ages, opportunities to engage with Metis culture and history.
Through the music and dance workshop, participants will learn about the history of Metis music and dancing (fiddling and jigging). The activities will include traditional Metis Red River jigging group dances and spoon accompaniment. Participants will also be taught traditional voyageur games which were used to test strength, balance and endurance of Metis voyageurs during the fur trade era.
