Art for Lunch: Richard Calver

November 17, 2022 @ 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm

Presenter: Sophie Lavoie

Join curator, Sophie Lavoie, for this instalment of Art for Lunch focusing on English-Canadian  artist Richard Calver. Richard Calver (1946 – 2021) was an English-Canadian artist who was an innovator of his medium, linocut printmaking. With a highly identifiable style that is both illustrative and expressive, Calver attracts the eye with a dynamic energy and captures it in unparalleled detail. Through his contemplative disposition and naturalist ideals Calver has produced a body of work that is introspective and insightful, exploring who we are – within ourselves, to each other, and as beings of the natural world.  The power of his work is in its ability to slow us down, make us study, and understand the greater workings of life.

The talk will begin at 12:15pm and finish at approximately 12:45pm.

Admission is by donation.
